History of Flamenco

“The Serrana” was born in Cazalla de la Sierra, between oaks and olive trees, on a distant day of March 19, 1999, when a series of people, flamenco art lovers, They decided to join their efforts so that there would be a flamenco club in this corner of the Sierra Morena in Seville.. The beginnings were laborious, As always happens with the launch of a project, but the illusion of a good group of hunters, along with the help of other clubs and several artists (singers and guitarists) made it possible for it to take shape, until it became a space recognized for its good work.

Since that founding assembly of 19/03/1999 There have been numerous headquarters and also the boards of directors that have welcomed and directed the existence and being of the La Serrana flamenco club..

It began provisionally at the old Bodeguita de Fernando (on Daoiz Street), shortly after officially inaugurating its first headquarters in the Plaza de José María López-Cepero y Murú at the beginning of autumn of that year.. At the beginning of 2001 There was a transfer to another location on Amargura Street where it remained until the spring of 2004. The opportunity arose to occupy a dignified space with history., the old chapel of San Antonio better known as 'Los Tiezmos'’ close to the ex-convent of San Francisco, where countless flamenco art meetings were held between the summer of 2004 and the spring of 2020, just when the Covid pandemic arrived. Since then without a real headquarters’ with belongings and memories collected waiting to make the dream of 'living' come true’ in a worthy space to continue spreading flamenco art among the people who live and visit Cazalla de la Sierra. We are working so that, soon, is fulfilled.

We also want to thank all those women and men who have been part of the great family of the La Serrana club., to associated people and their sympathizers. It is also fair to mean the work and the selfless and altruistic work of the people who have carried out the task., sometimes ungrateful, to be a member of the board of directors (presidency, vice presidency, Secretary, treasury and members).

And for that very reason, We want to reflect the names here, at least, of the people who held the office of the Presidency, which in order were: Juan Muñoz Alonso, Antonio Perea Carvajal, Rafael Cortijo Fernandez, and currently Mario Salvador Delgado.
