What happens when you decide to stop supporting yourself with just your body??
That question runs through Above All Things and becomes a challenge that has to do with taking the floor., with inhabiting the scene from another place and with allowing the body, voice, silence and presence coexist without one holding everything.
On scene, a woman wonders if she is heard. Speaks, dance, invoke, remember and name what was silent for a long time.
From the everyday to the sacred, from irony to the starkest tenderness, the show travels the margins of identity, spirituality, sexuality and inherited customs. There is also a gesture of love and pride towards everything that was once a source of shame..
With its own language that mixes flamenco tradition, performance, original texts and popular music, Above all things it is an act of affirmation, a speech and a liberation ritual.
Macarena Lopez (Sevilla, 1990) She is a dancer and creator from Seville, recognized for her work between flamenco dance and the avant-garde. He began his studies at the Professional Conservatory of Dance of Seville and expanded his training at the Andalusian Dance Center under the guidance of Rubén Olmo., Rocío Coral, Anabel Martin, Andrés Marín and Lola Greco among others.
In 2021 She is distinguished as a Solo Dancer at the Madrid Choreographic Contest, a recognition that reaffirms his talent and commitment to the contemporary scene. He has been part of the cast of the Andalusian Dance Center and the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia., with which he debuted as a soloist under the direction of Rafael Estévez. She is a regular collaborator of the singer Arcángel and Estévez/Paños y Compañía, with whom he has developed projects that dialogue between tradition and experimentation.
Her career as a creator begins with Crucible (2021), a debut feature that has toured national and international spaces. Con About all things, Macarena López opens a new chapter in her career, integrating words and dance into a deeply personal show, in which he explores identity, memory and authentic expression from sincerity and artistic commitment.
