XXIV Flamenco Biennial
Future of the guitar
Guitar: Alejandro Hurtado
Special collaboration: Enrike Solinís
In collaboration with the Seville Early Music Festival
The appointment with Alejandro Hurtado at the Biennale of this 2026 consecrates the man from Alicante to the chosen place of total guitarist of our time. The one who has in his head and in his hands the history of the last two centuries of Spanish guitar. The most turbulent due to divisions, but at the same time the most fertile due to the different sowings in all the compositional aesthetics for this instrument. All of this will be exhibited and endorsed in the largest showcase of flamenco art and in one of the historical capitals of the pulse and púa..
A real luxury to have his guitar in the context of a festival like the Biennial. Serial focused on flamenco, but he never gave up premieres, scores, tests and experiences. If they wanted maximum fusion with all of the law, without the term burning their lips; experiments without soda and a rebirth of the guitar with excellent results, Proof of bad minds and trappers, welcome to the event.
Luxury because we are referring to an instrumentalist who is capable of maintaining the maximum interpretive level, creator and compiler on his guitar, in a single recital. Sonanta who again with Alejandro Hurtado renews her term as Hispanic or Spanish.
Next to the Alicante, the excellent instrumentalist Enrique Solinís, with whom we will navigate through Alejandro's three already essential albums. From the mimetic and rigorous evocation of the touches of the classic flamenco masters; passing through the genres that the national folklore collection was supplying to the Arcas, Damas, Tarrega, hill, wolf, etc., of course, the brilliant creations of the young master Hurtado. Today's pieces with the demands and aesthetic issues of all times, including the current. You'll see what way to solve them.
The Biennial surpasses itself and Alejandro does the same by combining his talent with that of the Basque musician Enrique Solinís to the delight of the most demanding public., amazed analysis of the professional and the enjoyment of the first-time visitor. The guitar revolution today consists of achieving maximum visibility of the true roots of the instrument in a single musician.. This challenge shows us that the two-trunk tree was more of a work of interested gardening.. Alejandro is the last archaeologist of the guitar, the one who knows the strength of the first stem and the solid roots of the instrument. Father Alonso de Mudarra would gladly bless this concert. It has everything: context, scenery, musicians and sounds.
How can we not love Alejandro?.

The second, clean (2023), marks the beginning of his career as a composer. And in the third, The first cry (2025), the most classic, travels to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, approaching the romantic concept of the guitar of Francisco Tárrega, Agustín Barrios or Miguel Llobet, emulating the piano with his guitar, especially Chopin's.
Despite his youth, his technique and cleanliness of execution, as well as its expressive force, allow you to transmit intense sensations to the public, to which he adds his creative talent in his own compositions, as solo guitarist, what he includes in his concerts. His performances display a sobriety of elements that is rare in flamenco guitar concerts today.. In a way, aims to connect with the tradition of ancient guitarists, like Montoya, Niño Ricardo or Sabicas, claiming the role of the concert guitar as a solo instrument.
He confesses that flamenco concert guitar has been his passion since he was little.. And he shows off what Antonio Fernández “Fosforito” said about him: “After having worked throughout my professional career with the best guitarists of my time, starting with Niño Ricardo and passing through the brilliant Paco de Lucía, I attest to the enormous guitar capacity of Alejandro Hurtado, and I have no doubt that he is called to occupy a privileged place in the world of flamenco guitar”.
