La historia de la Peña Cultural Flamenca Miguel Vargas es la materialización de una ilusión compartida por un grupo de entusiastas locales. Since its beginnings, figuras como Juan José Hurtado Ramírez (El Hortelano), Manuel Rueda Maqueda (El Talabartero), y otros, han sido pilares fundamentales en su creación y desarrollo. Con Miguel Vargas como referente, desde 1971, la peña ha persistido a pesar de las adversidades, manteniendo viva la pasión por el flamenco.
Oficialmente constituida en 1976 durante el mandato de Ramón Saucedo Pérez, se superaron obstáculos burocráticos que habían afectado su funcionamiento anteriormente. Bajo la presidencia de José Bascón Calderón, se introdujeron innovaciones como la celebración regular de recitales. Besides, la peña fue una de las cofundadoras de la Federación Provincial de Entidades Flamencas de Sevilla.
In 1979, Antonio Suárez García “Pente” asumió la presidencia, marcando una etapa de cambios significativos, como la integración en la Federación provincial, la adopción del términoculturalen su nombre, la apertura del Libro de Actas y la creación del escudo actual. Durante esta fase, se realizaron Semanas Culturales que combinaban conferencias con actuaciones de destacados artistas como El Gallina, Joselero, Pedro Peña, Pedro Bacan, y otros, junto a la participación activa de aficionados locales.


En el verano de 1981, Antonio Rodríguez Vera, conocido comoHogacero”, asumió la presidencia con el objetivo de consolidar el Festival Flamenco en Paradas. A partir de 1983, el Ayuntamiento se involucró en la iniciativa, patrocinando una serie de festivales que dejaron una huella imborrable en los aficionados de la comarca.
A finales de 1985, una Junta Gestora mantuvo viva la peña flamenca con apenas una veintena de socios. Bajo la dirección de Manuel Martín Alcaide, la peña obtuvo un local en la Casa de la Cultura. In 1987, Martín Alcaide fue elegido formalmente como presidente, y se instituyó la Insignia de Oro de la Peña, otorgada por primera vez a Miguel Vargas.
In 1990, Jesús Hormigo Pachón encabezó una nueva candidatura con el propósito de dar un nuevo impulso al Festival Flamenco, dando lugar a la Semana Cultural. Este evento demostró ser más fructífero que los festivales anteriores, tanto para la peña, el Ayuntamiento como para los aficionados.
Manuel Martín Alcaide sucedió a Hormigo como presidente, liderando una reestructuración de la Semana Cultural que incluyó la participación de distintos presentadores y la incorporación del baile. Besides, Montoya Musical, representada por Leo López Roldán, contribuyó acercando artistas a la Semana Cultural de Actividades Flamencas de Paradas.
Durante el extenso periodo de Manuel Martín Alcaide como presidente de la peña flamenca (1994-2010), la entidad enfrentó diversas adversidades, como los fallecimientos de figuras clave como Miguel Vargas y Francisco Fuentes Rubio. A pesar de estos desafíos, la peña perseveró, creando nuevas actividades como el Memorial Miguel Vargas, el Festival de Jóvenes y el Certamen de la Saeta, además de mejorar tradiciones como la zambomba de Navidad y establecer intercambios con otras peñas flamencas.
Tras el mandato de Martín Alcaide, Antonio Rodríguez Vera retomó la presidencia en 2010 y se enfocó en modernizar la comunicación de la peña a través de nuevas tecnologías. Durante su liderazgo, se consolidó el Festival Flamenco de Verano y se homenajeó a destacados artistas locales. Su mandato duró hasta finales de 2016.
Posteriorly, una Junta Gestora tomó las riendas de la peña (2017-2020), revitalizando las redes sociales, reformulando el ciclo de recitales y organizando una semana previa a la Semana Cultural con actividades diversas. Durante este periodo, se rindió homenaje a figuras como Manuel Curao y El Pele.
José Antonio Reina Melgar asumió la presidencia en 2020, enfocándose en revitalizar la peña flamenca y enfrentando los desafíos de la pandemia. Organizó eventos como el Festival de Verano y la Semana Cultural Flamenca, adaptándose a las circunstancias. Introdujo nuevas iniciativas como talleres flamencos y actividades para niños, destacando la jornada de Convivencia de Socios en 2023. Su liderazgo refleja un compromiso firme con el crecimiento y la promoción del arte flamenco en la comunidad.

Sevilla
