Ese mismo año\, Manuel Vallejo publica la rumba “Catalina” y recibe la II Llave de Oro al Cante\, inmediatamente después de que Manuel Centeno ganara la segunda edición de la Copa Pavón. Y también se cumple un siglo del inicio de las grabaciones eléctricas\, lo que supuso un verdadero revulsivo para la industria discográfica. El sello La Voz de su Amo aumentaba la presencia del flamenco en su catálogo\, que alcanzaría más del 30% in 1929\, mientras los teatros\, cines y plazas de toros se atestaban de públicos ávidos de cante. En estos grandes formatos se manifestaba junto al baile\, las batallas entre saxofones\, la comedia y otras expresiones vinculadas con el entretenimiento. \nAntonio Chacón y Manuel Torre eran los maestros\, aquellos que entroncan directamente con las figuras del siglo XIX que no dejaron registro sonoro. La Niña de los Peines\, Manuel Vallejo\, Pepe Marchena\, Escacena\, Pepe Pinto\, el Cojo de Málaga\, Carbonerillo\, José Cepero\, Niño Medina\, El Gloria\, Niño Caracol\, El Mochuelo\, El Estampío\, Ramón Montoya\, Niño Ricardo y un largo etcétera\, los que sin megafonía y a golpe de talento iban a llevar este género a una dimensión dorada de creatividad y popularidad. Al albor de la Generación del 27\, Vicente Escudero triunfa por Europa y La Argentinita regresa a España tras su periplo por Argentina y Francia. Son tiempos de vanguardia y desarrollo de lo cabal como arte escénico\, mientras se escuchan tonás por los cuartitos\, con Tomás Pavón\, Juanito Mojama y otros cantaores de carácter genuino en espacios de mayor intimidad. Lo jondo\, en público\, compite con las corridas en los cosos\, ensanchando así un arte que troca en espectáculo de masas con los cafés cantantes a la espalda. \nTodo ello nos invita a celebrar sin nostalgia un siglo de flamenco a luz de centenares de ojos y lunas. De oídos dispuestos a recibir las voces que quebraron un silencio que no ha vuelto a suceder. \nLa Ópera Flamenca\, el flamenco de los años 20\, se llamó así por dos motivos. Primero\, por elevar esta cultura. En términos populares: vestir el cante de esmoquin\, como hizo Marchena a lo Gardel. Darle en apariencia un caché superior. Caché\, por cierto\, que per sé ya tenía\, pero que no se le reconocería tan fácilmente. Por otro\, para privilegiarse de la reducción de impuestos de la que gozaba la ópera\, que entonces estaba gravada con un 7% frente a las variedades\, que tributaban al 10%. La realidad\, en todo caso\, es que estos espectáculos tenían mucho de flamenco y nada de ópera. Un caso de picaresca inaudita\, pues aquello no solo coló\, sino que cambió la música española para siempre. \nA la contra de lo que algunos piensan\, no es la Ópera Flamenca un formato de apertura y mixtificación en el que únicamente se interpretaban fandangos y palos de ida y vuelta. Aunque cantes como la soleá y la seguirilla no eran los más demandados por el público\, sí aparecen en los repertorios junto a los tientos\, tangos\, caracoles\, alegrías\, tarantas\, marianas\, garrotines\, peteneras\, saetas\, malagueñas\, granaínas\, bulerías\, polos y cañas\, among many others. Esto también resulta del todo paradójico: el Concurso de Granada de 1922 se organizó para recuperar las supuestas esencias perdidas\, prohibiéndose en él los fandangos al considerarlos algo folclórico. Unos años después\, el fandango llega a su máximo apogeo\, consolidándose como el cante de mayor notoriedad durante décadas. \nCon todo ello a la espalda\, “El mundo por montera” no trata de revivir aquel momento\, sino más bien revisitarlo. Tomar la modernidad atávica de unos aromas que todavía huelen para contemplar lo idílico desde otro sitio con grandes figuras de hoy. Esto es un ay sin tiempo entre lo que habita en el olvido. La comunión del aficionado con sus querencias. Una fiesta\, sobre todo\, a hombros de la historia. Se celebra la virtud legada sin vitrinas. El museo vivo de la sangre. Lo sigilosamente apartado. También una arquitectura armónica que se echó al ruedo a dibujar heridas que aún siguen abiertas. Recoger perlas a millares quizá sea la principal intención. Recrearlas\, expandirlas\, habitarlas.
